How Hacking Heroes began

An educational idea in Kalisz, and the work that turned it into an international partnership.

The first conversations

Hacking Heroes did not begin on the first official day of its Erasmus+ funded period. By September 2016, the idea, the partnership and the programme had already been developing for the better part of a year.

The first conversations

In late 2015, Dominik Kościelak and Aleksandra Kubiak began discussing an educational project built around programming — not simply as a technical skill, but as a way for young people to learn independently, solve problems and work together.

The early motivation was practical and educational. The project would not be about turning every participant into a professional developer. It would use programming as a way to build confidence, curiosity and the habit of learning how to learn.
