Contribution to Hacking Heroes
Together with João Matos, Dominik developed the project's central educational idea: to use practical programming as a way of teaching independence, experimentation, teamwork and participation in the digital world. During the project he taught the Polish participant group in Kalisz and contributed to the curriculum, the online learning environment and the international hackathon.
During Hacking Heroes
Dominik Kościelak is a software engineer specialising in web technologies. He began his software career in London in 2007 and joined IDG UK in 2010. At the time of Hacking Heroes, he was living in Kalisz and working remotely for the company, now known as Foundry. Largely self-taught as a software engineer, he developed his technical knowledge through professional practice, books, conferences and workshops. His background before technology was in a very different field: he studied ethnology and cultural anthropology and worked on theatre, ethnomusicological and documentary film projects, including fieldwork in Georgia, Bulgaria and the Western Himalayas.
